The route and cache location provide amazing views: over the Zafarraya area initially, later far reaching to Lake Vinuela, the coast, the Maroma mountain and on a clear day all the way up to the Sierra Nevada. For best views and if you are a photographer, try to do this in the early morning.
This cache requires a streneous 2 - 2.5 hr hike (roundtrip) on a marked trail through mountaineous terrain with an elevation gain of approx 300m. This is a great hike with fantastic views. But be aware, you will be very exposed to the elements during most of the hike. It can be very cold and windy in winter or extremely hot if attempted during the summer months. It should only be attempted if you are physically fit and prepared, i.e. carry adequate equipment (shoes, clothing and possibly water).
Park your car at the designated parking/picknick area at at the Zafarraya Pass. From there, cross the bridge following the miniature railroad tracks to arrive at the trailhead. Follow the trail to the top. Once you have found the cache, you can return either via the same route, or continue the trail which brings you back into the village of La Venta de Zafarraya area. From there, follow the main road for approx 500 m to make it back to the parking area.
