Köyceğiz is just 28km from Dalaman International Airport, which also connects to major cities within Turkey.From the town centre there are regular minibus service to local destinations, while intercity buses run from the 'otogar' on the outskirts of the town almost anywhere in TURKEY.
KÖYCEĞİZ - TÜRKİYE A small market town in then south-west corner of Turkey,Köyceğiz sits on the northern shore of a huge, freshwater lake among olive and orange groves, beehives and cotton fields. A quiet Turkish rather than swinging, international resort, Köyceğiz's greatest assets are its natural beauty and wildlife. These centre around the lake, Köyceğiz Gölü, which the Mediterranean and a wide, sandy turtle beach. The surrounding area, meanwhile, offers plenty in the way of history, stunning landspace, active and less active pursuits. There are the thermal springs at Sultaniye a boat ride across the lake; mudbaths, lycian rock tombs and the ancient Carian city of Caunos further down-channel, and an impressive range of mountains to explore behind the town and most importantly of all of course there is now the "Pirate Cache Trail" which is getting longer and longer thanks to the Lady Wild Goose family, fellow cacher from the UK Blokiebloke and anyone else who would like to add to the trail even if you are unable to maintain as maintenance will be covered from here in Turkey.
This is a new cache to replace one that was muggled and due to being something a little out of the ordinary we feel that the first cacher brave enough to attempt to retrieve should be rewarded with an FTF. The novelty cache is in full view and can be seen from several metres away, the owners of the land are fully aware of the cache location as they pointed out where it should be placed when they saw this particular container from a selection we had with us.
Small note on cache maintenance: Aegean_Pirates live nearby and will assist with maintenance.
