Easy to find, kid friendly. Short walk from the parking lot.
We have decided to dedicate our first cache to Team Namthcof on the anniversary of our first find. About a year ago, we were starting to make plans for our summer vacation in the U.P. and stumbled upon Geocaching.com. The boys and I had explored Columbus park many times so I loaded all the caches here into my old Magellan Explorist (by hand) and we set off to see what geocaching was all about. Our very first find was "CCP Striped Maple" placed by Team Namthcof. It took us a couple of trips to figure everything out and complete the CCP Tree Trek series, but we were hooked.
Team Namthcof has placed many caches in St Clair County and the Port Huron area as well as their other excellent series at Goodells County park, Woodsong County Park, and Lakeport State Park. They also placed the Wadhams to Avoca power trail with their friends ShirJohn.
We would like to thank everyone who takes the time to place and maintain their geocaches

Columbus County Park is open from 8am to 8pm. It is a great place to explore any time of year with miles of trails, beautiful scenery and plenty of wildlife. While scouting for cache locations in September, I stepped out of the brush near the river just as a bald eagle flew by. The park also offers a lighted sledding hill.
