Most of the water supplied for drinking and irrigation service for this area come from this facility and the neighbor facility behind it. It is all supplied from the mighty Columbia River to the south.
This cache is near the home to the $12 million West Pasco Water Treatment Plant built in 2010 which supplies west Franklin County and Pasco residents fresh drinking water. The new plant initially will be able to produce 6 million gallons of water a day, and eventually it could be expanded to produce 16 million gallons a day. The city's existing water treatment plant, at South 12th Avenue and West B Street, produces 22 million to 24 million gallons per day at peak use in the summertime.
The plant's neighbor to the north (a bit further down nearby Road 111) is Franklin County Irrigation which supplies west Franklin County with it irrigation water. It's property and canal system run flawlessly and encompass 4,700 acres.
Our home is serviced by both facilities. Ironically when I placed this cache the lawn at this facility looks like it could use some water. Seemed a bit strange when the lawn is sandwiched between both facilities on one side of it and the mighty Columbia on the other. The first iteration of this cache went missing so I figured I'd change the container to help green up the area and put some of that water to use.
