Neviodunum je bilo eno od starorimskih mest na področju današnje Slovenije. Ležal je na geografsko ugodnem področju ob cesti Siscia (Sisak) – Emona (Ljubljana), hkrati pa je bil tudi rečno pristanišče in trgovsko središče. Medtem, ko so nekatera rimska mesta na naših tleh »preživela« (Emona, Celeia, Poetovio), oziroma so bila po vpadu novih ljudstev, spet obnovljena, nas na Neviodunum spominjajo le bogate arheološke izkopanine. Med njimi tržni prostori in skladišče, lončarske delavnice, pa celo kopališče, mozaiki, vodovod in številna grobišča.
Večina izkopanin se nahaja v slovenskih muzejih. Nekaj kamnitih predmetov pa si lahko ogledamo na mestu najdbe.
In kako boste našli zaklad?
Pomagala bo skica neke stare kamnite plošče. Na njej so (bili) vklesani štirje latinski izreki.
Na eni strani je tu starodavna modrost: »ARS LONGA, VITA BREVIS.«
Poleg nje pa so bili menda vklesana tri latinska besedila. »NAVIGARE NECESSE EST.«, »NIL NOVI SUB SOLE.« ter vzklik keltskega poveljnika »VAE VICTIS!«
Neviodunum is one of the old Roman cities on the teritory of Slovenia. Neviodunum was lying on favorable geographical area: by the road Siscia (today Sisak) – Emona (today Ljubljana). It was also the river port and commercial center. Some old Roman cities of present-day Slovenia »survived« (Emona – Ljubljana, Celeia – Celje, Poetovio – Ptuj). Neviodunum didn't. Only archaeological excavations remember us on this city, e.g.: commercial spaces and warehouse, pottery workshops, baths, mosaics, plumb system and many graves.
Most excavations are located in the Slovenian museums. A few stone artefacts you can see in situ.
And how could you fint the cache?
The sketch of an old stone will help you. On the stone there are (were) carved four latin sayings.
On one side there is ancient wisdom: »ARS LONGA, VITA BREVIS.«
Beside it there are (were) supposedly carved three latin texts: »NAVIGARE NECESSE EST.«, »NIL NOVI SUB SOLE.« and exclamation »VAE VICTIS!«.
