Geocache Description:

Easy to find cache about half way along the section of the Cleveland Way between Clay Bank car park and the top of the Ingleby Incline.

This part of the Cleveland Way can form part of a loop of around 8 miles starting from the car park at Clay Bank and taking in the Ingleby Incline and the highest point of the North Yorks Moors at Round Hill. There are fine views of the line of moors to the west and industrial Teeside to the north.

The incline is the course of a wire rope hauled system which lowered trucks of iron ore from mines in Rosedale and Farndale down from the moor and which enabled there to be a rail link from the mines direct to the furmances of Teeside. The incline closed in the 1920s.

The path on the top of the moors passes many marker stones which have a variety of carvings on them. The Face Stone dates from the 17th century.

The cache is located right next to the stone itself.
