Geocache Description:

The cache is a small clip top box located on part of the Chiltern Heritage Trail between the villages of Seer Green and Jordans. Please replace the cache exactly as you find it. It has gone missing once before so is now wedged in the correct place. Thanks.

Seer Green and Jordans are two South Buckinghamshire villages which share quite a lot in common. Not only is the the local railway station called "Seer Green and Jordans" but there are also other linkages including the Seer Green and Jordans Society www.seergreenandjordans.org.uk and also the Holy Trinity Church in Seer Green serves both communities.

Despite the close linkages, each village has its own distinct character and history and this cache is located on the footpath between the two.

The earliest records of a settlement in Seer Green date back to 1223 and up until the 20th Century was locally well known for its cherry orchards. The village school holds a "Cherry Pie Fair" every summer to commemmorate this history.

Jordans is well known as a centre of Quakerism and is the burial place of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania. The Mayflower Barn in Jordans is reputed to be built with timbers from the Pilgrim Fathers ship "The Mayflower ".

Take the time to walk around each village and on the walk between the two, you will find this cache. Take a look across the fields, there are often horses to be seen and plenty of wildlife.

The footpath is popular so be aware of muggles.
