This is one of a planned mini-series based on Alice in Wonderland and an addition to the caches in East Leake, linking up existing caches along the walking routes you would take anyway! This one is slightly to the east of the village using a bridleway which is an extension of Lantern Lane where the schools are located.
Parking in East Leake is in the centre of the village where there are currently free car parks and access to all the caches is easy. You can park on Lantern Lane to be closer to the caches on the N.East of the village but if you do this one on a school day, please be considerate to parents and residents and watch out for children!
This cache is located by walking along Lantern Lane, continuing left as it turns into a bridleway up the hill (or taking the footpath across the field). In the summer it is dry but uneven walking but in winter or after rain the bridleway is a gooey mixture of mud and horse manure. Kids will love it but it can be quite hard walking with mud to the tops of wellies! Dogs are ok on this track. This one can be accessed with pushchairs and toddlers in dry weather.
The cache is located just near the farmhouse. This is a working farm but the cache is very much on public property. It is a small cylindrical container with a log book only.
Alice Link In Chapter III ‘A Caucaus-race and A Long Tale’ -of Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ -, Alice meets a motley collection of creatures who are all very wet which is Alice’s fault -Do you know why? To help distract them, one creature relates his life story, proving he has a very long tale in more ways than one! Who is he and where might you find him hiding?
