La chiesa di San Giacomo Maggiore Apostolo ha origini sicuramente antiche, in quanto si trova già nominata in una Bolla Pontificia del 1185.
Monsignor Angelo Maschietto, storico della Diocesi di Ceneda, negli anni seguenti alla seconda guerra mondiale, nel suo preciso sommario storico sulle chiese della Diocesi scrisse a proposito della Chiesa di Colfrancui:
“Fu Cappella della Pieve di Oderzo. E’ di antica origine. Infatti nella Bolla di Papa Lucio III “Quoties e nobis petitur” del 18 ottobre 1185, è nominata la “Plebs S. Joannis del Opitergio e Capella Curtis Franconis” (detta in seguito Colfrancudo e Col Francuii dal nome di persona germanica Franc.).
Nel 1474 (Visita Past. Vescovo Trevisan), la Chiesa minacciava rovina e aveva bisogno di riparazioni, così che fu ordinato agli abitanti della villa che la restaurassero.
Era una volta a una sola navata e aveva tre altari (un quarto fu eretto nel 1754 a S. Filippo Neri, ma non esiste più). Fu restaurata e ampliata delle navate laterali, nel 1926, su disegno dell’arch. Prof. Luigi Candiani.”
Il 20 dicembre 1947 il Vescovo di Vittorio Veneto Mons. Giuseppe Zaffonato eresse in Parrocchia indipendente la Curazia di Colfrancui. Il decreto del Vescovo venne riconosciuto, agli effetti civili, dal Presidente Einaudi il 21 gennaio 1949.

The Church of St. James the Greater Apostle certainly ancient origins, as it is already mentioned in a papal bull of 1185.
Monsignor Angelo Maschietto, historian of the Diocese of Ceneda, in the years following World War II, in its precise historical summary on the churches of the diocese wrote about the Church of Colfrancui:
"It was the Chapel of the Church of Oderzo. Is ancient origin. In fact, in the Bull of Pope Lucius III “Quoties e nobis petitur” of 18 October 1185, is named the “Plebs S. Joannis del Opitergio e Capella Curtis Franconis”(called after Colfrancudo and Col Francuii from the Germanic personal name Franc.).
In 1474 (Visit Past. Trevisan Bishop), the Church threatened to fall and needed repairs, so that he was ordained to the inhabitants of the villa that restore.
It was once a single nave and had three altars (quarter was erected in 1754 in St. Philip Blacks, but no longer exists). It was restored and enlarged the aisles, in 1926, designed by Arch. Prof. Luigi Candiani. "
On 20 December 1947 the Bishop of Vittorio Veneto Bishop Giuseppe Zaffonato erected in the parish independent of the Curacy Colfrancui. The decree of the Bishop was recognized in civil law, the President Einaudi January 21, 1949.
