The cache is near what was the second largest sycamore tree in Crawford County (http://www.crawfordconservation.com/for-bigtrees.html). Here is the link to a photo of the tree before it was burned and had to be taken down in 2011: http://www.crawfordconservation.com/Platanusoccidentalis-Conservancy1.JPG.JPG
This cache is maintained by Creek Connections, an environmental education project at Allegheny College. At the heart of Creek Connections is a collaboration between the
college and teachers in western Pennsylvania and New York for the
purpose of encouraging natural science education through hands-on
field and laboratory experiences. Allegheny College faculty and
students provide the framework and assistance for school-based
investigative research in regional watersheds. Emphasizing a
hands-on, inquiry based investigation of local waterways, this
project annually involves over 40 different secondary schools and
the classes of 50 teachers. Check out our website at http://creekconnections.allegheny.edu
