Geocache Description:

A regular cache hidden near one of Salalah's well known luxury hotels.

The Province of Dhofar, and the city of Salalah in particular, has witnessed tremendous development in the past 40 years. Progress that is still continuing demonstrated by the many construction projects that are taking place around town. Business has started booming when oil was discovered in South Oman making Salalah a major supply port for oil field supplies. Roads were constructed linking Dhofar with the Capital Area of Muscat, an airport and a major harbour were constructed and related industry such as a cement factory started up.

Tourism also discovered the attractions of Salalah and Dhofar. Mild weather prevails throughout the year, helped greatly by the fact that Dhofar is the only part of the Arabian Peninsula affected by the seasonal monsoon rains, lowering temperatures in this region while the rest of Arabia bakes in the summer sun. A millennia old culture left behind many ruins worth visiting. The beautiful beaches with countless coconut groves as a backdrop provide ample opportunities for rest and recreation.

Two luxury hotels were built to cater for the influx of businessmen and tourists alike. Next to one of them this cache has been hidden. The cache consists of a small lock-and-lock container camouflaged in a beige sock. It contains a logbook and pencil and has place for Geocoins and small-sized Travel Bugs. Please use the necessary stealth while searching for this cache as the place is often swarming with muggles. Other geocachers after you would like to enjoy the cache also! Likewise please make sure that you hide the cache exactly as you have found it and that it is not visible to the muggle-eye.
