Geocache Description:

The cache is atop a medium volcano with lovely views over Lajares.

The walk is suitable for small children under supervision. Walking shoes are recommended although stoutly soled trainers are suitable.
Walk from the parking place and take the left fork in the path, climb up to the base of the ridge and follow the ridge to the peak. The terrain is good for a volcano in the north of the island with very few medium sized stones that can slide underfoot or cause an ankle to be turned. Most of the climb is not too steep and there is plenty of bedrock to the left of the path, it is the short final approach to the peak where it becomes much steeper and there is lttle bedrock that causes problems. Not too bad in the ascent but care needs to be taken at the start of the descent.
For a longer walk, from the peak, continue up to the top of the adjacent volcano Hondo. This climb is very steep and the terrain noticably worse but there is sufficient bedrock to utilise. From here there are 360 views as well as the complete crater of Hondo to admire. Follow the crater rim to the left and you will pass cache GC2EYKQ Vulcano, from here continue to the viewing platform and the path down. You can either follow the path to the right back to the parking area or turn left and enjoy the views across to Majanicho and the collapsed crater before rejoining the path.
As with all walking in Fuerteventura, because of the rocky terrain, ALWAYS look where you place your feet, if you wish to admire the scenery, stop walking and plant your feet securely.
Olease ensure that the cache is pushed well back into the "cave" and the lid is secured properly.
