Once again This event brought together all those who attended Geo Jamborees in the past and many new folks for a weekend of camping, paddling, geocaching and campfire comadery
JUNE 21-23, 2013
At Lake Waramaug State Park Event coordinates were approximate as we were not sure exactly where in the picnic area we would end up. But after some searching through rain soaked mush we came across the perfect spot... near the beach.... near the kayak/canoe rental.... and as my grandsons will attest, near the ice cream store.
NO EVENT FEES - However, there is a parking fee here at the park - $9 for Ct Residents and $15 for out of state. Get there early and you may be able to avoid the fee. Also, campers do not pay parking fee.
Bring your canoes or kayaks - or rent them there.
Single seat kayaks: $10/hour or $50/day
Tandem kayaks or canoes: $15/hour or $60/day
The last few years I have told myself that this would be the last year of doing the Geo Jamboree. And each year I go ahead and do it again. I was convinced that this year really would be the last year. However, after much coaxing from satisfied geocachers and prompting from Mother Nature herself, I am pretty sure the Geo Jamboree series will continue. I mean, who can resist such perfect weather? With the difficulties of setting up a new location now in the past, I think we have really found a great location. Although we have pretty well filled the Pinnacle with caches, there is still lots of room at Mt. Bushnell State Park near by.
As always, I want to thank all of you who contributed such an abundance of awesome food. As I alway say... it is YOU who make the event a success. And a special thanks goes to Planet for her help with the food committee and to Son Of A Beach for his generous donation of food and manning the grill.
I hope I will see you all at Geo Beach Bash III, in August.
