Join us for some midsummer madness at Nydie Campsite in Fife. Located about 5 miles from St.Andrews, Nydie is a friendly family run camping and caravan site, they even have a few 'hobbit' pods for those with hairy feet. The event runs from Friday with the loggable event being the Saturday night.
Book your pitch online at http://www.nydie.co.uk/ and put Geo Phil in the message box section, Sue, the campsite owner, will then keep us all together.
Now to the madness!
Friday : We plan on doing the usual chippy run about 6.30. This will be followed by traditional midsummers fun. Anglo Saxon people celebrated midsummer by dancing round standing stones naked, now unfortunately we dont have any standing stones at Nydie but we do have flag poles so we will have naked flag pole dancing. Picts used to paint symbols on their bodies so we will follow on from the naked dancing by using face paints and have a body art competition. Celts enjoyed chanting to celebrate midsummer so after a few refreshments we will have a wee sing song.
Only joking! From about 8pm we will be having a onesie party, we hope you all join in the fun by wearing one for the evening while we all enjoy a few drinks and nibbles.
Saturday: Midsummer is half way through the year, half a year from Christmas and half a year from the next Christmas, such a long time to wait, but not tonight, for one night only, we're gonna celebrate Christmas at midsummer. Get your fancy chrimbo dress on, tinsel, crackers, Christmas snacks, lights etc. It is rumoured that Santa might even be on his summer hols and pay us a visit, who knows, he's a busy man. It is planned on having a 'secret santa' lucky dip, if you want to take part in this then each team should supply a wrapped present, one present per team and please dont spend more than a few pounds, just something thats daft, can even be home made! There will be food provided, not sure what as yet, maybe seabird stew, a speciality of Christmas Island.
Day visitors are welcome however there is limited car parking for visitors, please park only in the parking area provided.
