The Loop #2 Rest at the Garth
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions

This cache is the second addition to what will eventually form a walking loop around the Spaunton/Lastingham/Appleton area of the North York Moors.
These are well-trodden routes for us - we have dog-walked, run and cycled these roads & paths many times and feel the area thoroughly deserves some caches.
This cache lies within Lastingham, and is a short walk from Lastingham church (St Mary's) which stands on the site of a seventh century Celtic monastery.
The existing building dates back to 1078 and is famous for its Norman crypt, said to be the only complete one in Britain.
Lastingham is also home to four Holy Wells: St Cedd's, St Chad's, St Ovin's & St Mary Magdalene's (the latter being the only one which still has water flowing from a spring) - all nearby.
The site of the cache provides a quirky spot at which passing walkers can pause and take in the views across Spaunton Moor.
Watch out for hazards at eye level & you may want to take your own pen!
The cache is only big enough for mini goodies.
