The extension of the Tecumseh Bike Trail in New Carlisle to the south of town along Rt 235 was completed this month and the trail is now open to bikers and walkers. The southern part of the original trail as well as the extension follows a former Penn Central Railroad line and an old train trestle over Honey Creek.
The project was 100 percent federally-funded, provided through the Clark County-Springfield Transportation Coordinating Committee from two Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality grants, and required no local matching funds.
A further extension south another two miles to Park Layne is in the planning stages.
For now, this is the southern terminus of the Tecumseh trail. Limited parking is available here. Shouldn't be too difficult to figure out where the cache is.
