Geocache Description:

This is a trail that my dogs and I love to walk. This is the "other" peninsula. This is one of two peninsula's at Second Lake. The landlocked part is large. The cache here is at a spot where there is an interesting arrangement of rocks with flat smooth faces that almost look like headstones. This spot offers a nice view of the lake below from a high elevation.

There is more than one trail leading to this peninsula. There is a nice side trail not far from the main trailhead. (The trailhead is at N44 46.152 W063 39.035) This side trail allows you to get off the main crushed gravel trail quickly and you'll only be on the main trail for less than 200m. (The first side trail off the crushed gravel main path is at N44 46.243 W063 39.033). Alternatively, you can walk up the main trail right to the lake and take the side trail by the lake (N44 46.607 W63 39.059). After entering either side trail, work your way to an intersection that is easily overlooked (N44 46.527 W063 38.848). This is a spot you can walk right by without noticing. This is where you need to turn to get to the peninsula trail. After you locate the cache, take a moment to check out the campfire/campsite further down the trail at N44 46.828 W063 38.705. The cache is a small jar with plastic top totally camo taped. Bring a writing device to sign the log : )
