Rongo is a major Maori god, the god of cultivated food. This carving of Rongo was placed here and 7 trees planted in line to celebrate Matariki (the Maori new year) by Kono Horticulture in the winter of 2011. This cache has been hidden with the deepest respect to the spiritual significance of this park, the Maori culture and believes, so no plants or stones where used. Please leave this place as you find it.
This is a very special and unique park in Motueka and some would say tucked away but it is here for public use. Kono Horticulture would like you to please take your time to sit down and enjoy this beautiful place.
