No more teachers, no more books
Muhunoa East School was started in 1904. The school catered from new entrants to standard 2. It closed its doors for the last time on 20 December 2005 with a role of 15. With a falling role, the school chose to close rather than become a single-teacher school.
The school is survived by the old school hall just down the road, which is now a barn at Triplow's Farm.
The cache itself is a 200ml black all weather lock box. Contains a log book, pen and a couple of jacks. It seems an unusual location for a school, and in my experience here it seems now a sad and lonely end to a once bustling hub of this small community.
