The Castle Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Whirlwind: I went to check this cache last night and it was not were it should be. Recent "found it" logs would indicate that there is a cache in the vicinity but it must have been moved from its original location to somewhere else. This cache has run its course... Archiving leaves a space for someone else if they wish to place a cache in the area. Many thanks to all who took the time to look for it.

Geocache Description:

A magnetic nano - no need to enter Castle grounds.

Brownlow House or Lurgan Castle was built by Charles Brownlow in 1833 and was owned by the Brownlow family until the turn of the century. The House and surrounding grounds were purchased on behalf of Lurgan Loyal Orange District Lodge and it is claimed to be the largest Orange Hall in the world.

The house was built in the Elizabethen style using imported Scottish sandstone and is a grand building with some striking features easily seen from the cache location -  the elegant wrought iron carriage gates at the entrance, the tall spiralled chimney pots and the lanterned tower with lantern and dome. The house also enjoys superb views over Lurgan Park and Lurgan Golf Club is close by.
