This cache is dedicated to Steve, in honour of his birthday. Both of us have spent a lot of time on this mountain. And Steve likes mountains in general. He is always ready to appreciate a good view, too, and pick out familiar landmarks from the sweeping vista, which is what I highly suggest you do, when going for this cache. Steve also likes puzzles, so this is a Mystery Cache.
The cache is not located at above coordinates, but within 1 km. Cache container is a small square lock and lock filled with pins, because Steve likes pins.
I have written the puzzle so that you do not have to see the view to solve it, as the mountain is often in fog, but if you show up on a clear day with answers already in hand, take the time to wander the park and soak in the views – you should be able to spot all of the places mentioned in the puzzle.
A = This ski area is nestled in the middle of three mountains and had lots of visitors – although little snow – in Winter 2010.
B = This is a National Historic Site of Canada, used to be owned by the Guinness family (yes, the same as the beer), and is probably one of the most recognizable landmarks of Vancouver.
C = This rises above E to a height of 1,449 m and appeared in the X-Files and Twilight.
D = At the far end of this body lies Granite Falls and a campground only accessible by boat or what I’ve heard is a very rough hiking “route” that would take you a few days.
E = This small community sits almost at the intersection of F and D and is home to a great little donut shop where you can load the calories back on that you just burnt from doing the B.P. trail out to Quarry Rock.
F = This is spanned by two bridges, and is about 25km long.
G = A “Skyride” will take you up this where you can then watch bears, raptors, and lumberjacks!
H = This body of water is named for the same person as the University that sits on the same mountain as this cache.
