KVARNER Cache 56 - Petehovac Traditional Cache
Nikrmana: Unfortunately there's been some continuing issues with this cache and there is no reaction from the owner. Thus as there is no option to replace the cache, I am archiving it. I'm also archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.
If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, please contact Geo Sova or Nikrmana by send email from their profile, with a cache GC number included. Assuming cache meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

KVARNER Cache 56 is located at the top of Petehovac - a significant landscape, is of special importance for tourism in Delnice. It rises to the southeast of Delnice and resembles a step in the relief. Behind Petehovac a mountain plateau stretches towards the Mrkopalj area. With some of the peaks rising over 1,000m, the plateau is particularly good for ski touring. In 1949 a mountain lodge was built on Štimčev Vrh (1,024 m) thanks to the efforts of volunteers, hikers and mountain climbers who carried building material all the way from Delnice. The lodge was named after the nearby Petehovac peak (1,098 m), little further to the southeast. Thirteen years later, an annexe was built nearby. The facilities, along with the nearby chair lift, were the very cornerstones of tourism in Delnice at that time.
At present, the Mountanious centre Petehovac operates round the year with a modern ski-lift, numerous paths and nice private hotel on the place of former mountaineering hut.
Jagodina stijena (Jagoda's Rock) is just a five-minute walk from the central object. There is a legend about the place, which Milivoj Magdić wrote down in 1934 (a story entitled "Jagoda's Love"). Polane (950 m), meaning the pastures, is today a weekend resort, but in the past it used to be a summer (seasonal, periodical) settlement for the people of Delnice, who bred their livestock and farmed the land in a traditional migratory manner. So, they would spend the summers at Polane, and during the winters they would go back to Delnice.
