Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Mgarr, Malta. Mgarr is a rural village in the north of Malta. It is surrounded by rich farmland and vineyards and most of the local population is still engaged in agriculture.

In the middle of the small village there is a surprisingly large church, the Parish Church of St. Mary. It was built in the beginning of the 20th century and was largely funded by the local population, mainly by selling agricultural products.
5,700 fowl, 920 swine, 620 rabbits, 600 lambs and goats, 13 calves and 360,000 eggs are said to have been sold in order to build the church. It is said that this is the reason that the dome was given the shape of an egg.

The patron saint of this village is St. Mary and its festa (a religious festival) is held on the first Sunday after the 15th of August.

The cache is a micro. Please bring your own pencil.
