This cache is placed on a rock ledge next to some rock paintings next to a lagoon on the Ifafa river
While on holiday at Bazley Beach I was taken to some rock paintings on a rock ledge across the lagoon on the Ifafa river. Of course my first reaction was I need to put a cache here.
I have no idea the origin of these paintings. They do look like the "Bushmen Paintings" you get in the Drakensberg but I'm not sure how authentic these really are.
It was a fun adventure to explore the river while getting there and back.
We hired canoes while we were staying at MacNicols camp site. I would say the best way other than that would be to park at the end of Lagoon Drive and walk down the beach to the lagoon. From there make your way to the rock face and climb up the rocks.
It is not a difficult climb onto the rocks but they can be very slippery.
This cache is not dangerous to get to however because murky waters are involved please be cautious.
The paintings are pretty much in the middle of the rock face. As you can see by the photo there are 2 clear paintings and a third that is coming off the rock.
Do not touch the paintings or add your own art.
Have fun and enjoy exploring. You may even here the cry of the Fish Eagle as you make your way up river.
