Fort Bayard HM Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Tombs: After moving away from the area we were too far to properly maintain this cache, so we made a trip for retrieval. Picked up the original still in good condition.

Geocache Description:

Fort Bayard 1866-1900

One of the several posts created on the Apache frontier, Fort Bayard protected the Pinos Altos mining district. Company B of the black 125th Infantry served here, as did Lt. John J. Pershing. In 1900 the fort became a military hospital, and today serves as Fort Bayard Medical Center. In honor of our one year geocaching anniversary we decided to place more hides. This is one of fourteen.

Quick park and grab at yet another historical marker in Grant County. Log only, bring your own writing stick. Should be an easy find but there is a lot of traffic so please be careful and hide as good or better than you found it so it can be around for awhile! Enjoy!
