This is the first in a series of caches featuring the churches of Helena
The history of Helena says that the Methodists first came to Helena in 1876, the year the town was first incorporated shortly after the Civil War. A structure was built just west of what we call "Old Town" a few years later. The tornado of 1933 destroyed that structure but it was rebuilt the next year despite the ravages of the Great Depression. This structure, now privately owned, still stands on 2nd Avenue. In 1981 the congregation built the older part of the present structure and moved to this location. This is currently the largest church in Helena. It has three services on Sunday mornings: a traditional service at 9AM and a contemporary service at 11:00. Enabling people to grow in discipleship and to express that discipleship in meaningful service is a significant part of the stated mission of the church.

To find the cache, stand at the posted coordinates and imagine the cornerstone on the building. To calculate the value of A, take the date on that cornerstone, add the year of my birth (I was 67 sometime during the year the cache was placed), and add another 400. Divide all this by 1000. Now add 2. That is the value of A. John Wesley was an English clergyman who is considered the founder of the Methodist movement in the 18th Century. To determine the value of B, take the year on the imagined cornerstone and subract the year of Wesley's birth (Winkepedia may be helpful here). Now add 458. This is the value of B. In locating the cache, please be mindful of the signs.
