Pine trees are only one of the cone bearing plants. The pine cone is a reproductive organ . Pine cones come in male and female varieties.
In most species of pine the male and female cones grow on the same tree. There is about 115 species of pine. The male and female differ from each other.
The image most people associate with is a woody scaled structure is the female, the male is smaller and more leafy
I love doing crafts using pine cones, because they come in so many shapes and sizes.
They can be used to enhance floral arrangements, making wreaths just to name a few.
Thought I'd give you a chance to gather a few.
There is only bragging rights, bring your own pen and tweezers. Lots of parking available.
