The walk along the Sea Wall from Pilling to Knott End gives, if the weather if clear, amazing views across the Lune Estuary over to the Lake Disrict.
This cache is one of a series placed along the sea wall with permission from Natural England who look after this amazing Site of Special Scientific Interest.
***CONGRATULATIONS TO DAWES SCORPIO FOR FTF ON POSSIBLY THE COLDEST DAY EVER! SERIOUSLY DEDICATED GEOCACHING!***
This cache is called 'Wading Wildlife' in honour of the many wading birds that call this coastline home. Depending on the time of year you may well see Oystercatchers, Grey Plovers, Turnstones, Knots and Curlews.
During Autumn and Winter there are thousands of Geese who travel between the Coast and other areas for food and this 2012/13 winter season has seen huge numbers of both Mute and Whooper Swans.
So bring your binoculars and see what you can spot!
The length of the Sea Wall Walk is approximately 2.5 miles end to end (5 miles there and back again)! If you park at either end there is a bus (Number 89 - runs every 2 hours) from the centre of Knott End to Pilling and vice versa. The Pilling stops (either Wheel Lane or The Golden Ball) are still about a 1/2 mile wander to the start of the Sea Wall Walk.
