The Yearling was released in 1946, it was based on a book by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. It starred Gregory Peck, Jane Wyman, Claude Jarman, and Chill Wills. It is the story of a young boy and the deer that he raises. It was filmed in the Juniper Prairie Wilderness and there is a trail that will lead you back to the areas where the real family lived.
