In Genesis, the Lord found wickedness among his creation (man), was displeased, and he sought to destroy this creation. Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord; therefore, the Lord chose to spare him and his family. The Lord conveyed to Noah that he would destroy the wickedness of man by causing a great flood on the Earth. He commanded Noah to build an ark to house his family and a male and female of animals of the earth during the flood.
Once Noah had completed the ark, it began to rain. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights, and the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills that were under the whole heaven were covered. All flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man. The waters prevailed upon the Earth for 150 days until God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged.
Noah sent a dove to determine if the waters had receded, and the dove returned . The dove returned with a olive leaf, and it proved to Noah that the waters were gone, and the Earth was dried. God commanded Noah to go forth from the ark and take the animals. They should be fruitful and multiply and populate the Earth. Noah and his family did as commanded and built an altar unto the Lord and made sacrifices. The Lord smelled a sweet savour and said that he would never again curse the ground for man's sake.
This catastophy will not happen again, but the rains over the last 4 weeks may make you wonder. The ground is saturated, and it's nasty. On a dreary day, I sought to hide a cache with a name reflective of discussions of a great flood.
Happy hunting!
