Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Bartram Canoe & Cache Trail!

The canoe (and kayak) trail stretches over 6 miles from the boat launch off Race Track road to the docks at Clark's Fish Camp. The trip will take cachers around the Julington/Durbin Preserve through beautiful reclaimed forests dotted with centennial cypress trees and picturesque natural scenery. Conditions on the first few miles of the canoe trail include many sunken logs and other navigational obstacles, so setting out at high tide +1 hour is recommended to avoid the toughest manuevers (though not necessary to successfully paddle the creek). Cachers can also cut the canoe trail in 1/2 by paddling to the landing at Durbin View; however, this take out point requires ~3/4 mile hike back to reach parking so be prepared. Even if not pulling the boat out of the water at Durbin View, it still makes a great lunch stop for a tired geocacher before continuing on to finish paddling the waterway!

Bartram Canoe Trail Map Check Tides

This cache marks the location of the launch point for the Bartram Canoe Cache Trail. This Centennial Cypress was used in the 1800’s as a lookout tree for the loggers retrieving centuries old cypresses from these forests. Cachers are seeking a micro sized container where a logger might have hid it.

Happy Hunting & Safe Paddling!!
