The Great Lockout Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Galileo the cat: The original final, an in-theme container, was obliterated by renovation of the parking lot and the generic replacement is gone. This area is closed off and on for construction. There's not a strong reason to keep this one going anymore. Here's the solution information-

N 37° 19.868 W 121° 53.910 is the Certitude final cache location
N 37 19.968 W 121 53.998 is stage 2
corner- N 37° 19.929 W 121° 54.010

Original GZ was obliterated. Look for a flat pack in the pole at N37 19.860 W121 53.903. Middle yellow reflector band. 59 feet south

Old final hint:
About six inches/15 cm below rail, in THAT plant. There should be a manhole cover in the street behind you.

Geocache Description:

The dispute between the NHL owners and players is finally over. The owners' 113 day lockout resulted in 625 regular season games lost. Whatever your feelings about the dispute, the end of it means San Jose Sharks' hockey will soon be back.

Finding this 3-stage multicache certainly won't take 113 days, probably not even 113 minutes. Have fun and watch for traffic.

Certitude verification is now added for stages 2 and 3.

This is a three-stage multicache near downtown San Jose, around the Arena Green. This is a micro, so be sure to bring a pen. Gather information at stages 1 and 2 to find the container at stage 3. Parking is free most of the time on North Autumn St.

1. Proceed to the posted coordinates, this is Stage 1 note the address of the Arena across the street and the number of padlocks on the five visible sides of the object beside you.

  • The address of the "SAP Center" (San Jose Arena) is 5AB West Santa Clara Street
  • The number of padlocks is "C"
  • D= B-5,
  • E= C-1,
  • F= C-A
For the location of the stage 2, use the beginning coordinates and
  • Subtract 0.0EF from the minutes of the posted latitude,
  • Add 0.00D to the minutes of the posted longitude.

You can validate your Stage 2 solution with certitude

2. Proceed to the Stage 2 location The nameplate on the box of green includes the name of the city where it was manufactured.

  • G=The number of letters in this name minus 1

3. Find the final cache at N 37 19.8C8 W 121 53.G1D (that's number "8", letter "C", number "8")

You can validate your final solution with certitude.

Update 8/13/2016 Fixed hint, it was throwing people off. That benchmark seems to have moved. Certitude added to help check arithmetic.

Congratulations to Geokashers for the FTF!
