This cache has been approved by the Orange County Parks and Recreation Division. This cache is located on a 110-acre parcel funded by the Florida Communities Trust (FCT) and managed by Orange County Parks and Recreation Division. The area where the cache is located is frequently managed by prescribed fire. During a recent burn, a Florida black bear ran down the trail in front of land managers!
Parking is available across the street from the 110-acres in Kelly Park. Tell gatehouse staff you are only there to visit the FCT parcel and the entrance fee will be waived (you must park in the lot adjacent to the gatehouse). To enter the FCT property, walk across the street to the concrete pad and you will see the gated front entrance to the right. Follow Prairie Lake Trail (red loop) approximately one mile to the coordinates (the cache is a large Adventure Program Container). Enjoy the beautiful Florida scenery and wildlife including Wild turkey, White-tailed deer and of course, Florida black bears! The park is open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. in winter and 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. in summer.
