Industrial archaeology throws up many surprises - one at Denniston centres around the work done by Cornish stone-masons, brought in specially to build the beautifully-crafted granite footings, facades and walls which once adorned the major mine buildings. Extensive lengths of stone wall remain at Conns Creek and the brakehead and these, along with the Banbury Arch, illustrate the skill of the Cornish stone masons who worked here. They were probably also responsible for the stone retaining walls alongside the roperoad cuttings, and lining the creek banks. The stonework is a special feature of these sites. The cache is placed in the wall leading to the Conn's Creek yards at the bottom of the Denniston Incline and also the lesser known Koronui Incline. Please take care when parking, there is safe parking just a few metres away on the other side of the road.
If you travel the short distance to the end of this road you will find another cache, GC2C729 Conns Creek and a waypoint for the Virtual cache GC88ZVG It's Tough at the Top.
EDIT 4/2/25 The Terrain rating has been increased slightly since it is not currently possible to drive to WP3. Walk or bike are the options for now.
