This cache is located near a Rest Area/Parking bay 56 kilometers East of Mildura on the Sturt Highway. This way side stop was created to allow travelers to take a short break and if needed, use the toilet facilities. Many of these toilet facilities are scattered around Australia and due to the shortage of water, it is a "dry" facility. You may ask why is is called a thunderbox, well it is Australian slang for a toilet because sometimes when you go to the loo and break wind, and it sounds like thunder due to the deep hole below the toilet seat.
