Es müssen keine Gleise betreten werden!

Nachdem die Bahn von Meran kommend die erste große Geländestufe von Algund nach Marling geschafft hat, geht es bis zum Eingang in den Vinschgau bei Töll mächtig zur Sache, was die Überwindung der Steigung angeht: 120 Höhenmeter sind bis zum nächsten Bahnhof Töll zu überwinden. Dazwischen befinden sich drei Tunnel, der Marlingertunnel (598m), der Josefsbergtunnel (579 m), eine Steinschlaggalerie (80m) und der Tölltunnel (684m). Nicht umsonst bekam der Bahnhof Töll einen Wasserturm für die durstigen Dampfrösser nach diesem beschwerlichen Aufstieg. Der alte Wasserturm wird vom Restaurant „Onkel Taa“ als Teil der Ausstellung zur k. und k. Monarchie benutzt. Der neuere, italienische Wasserturm aus Beton ist ungenutzt. )

Venendo da Merano il treno supera il primo dislivello tra Lagundo e Marlengo. Per raggiungere Tel all´imbocco della Val Venosta la tratta deve superare una consistente depressione altimetrica: bisogna superare 120 metri fino alla prossima stazione Tel. In mezzo si trovano 3 gallerie, la galleria elicoidale Marlengo (598 m), la galleria Monte Giuseppe (579 m), un paravalanga (80 m) e la galleria Tel (684 m). Non per nulla la stazione Tel venne dotata d´un serbatoio d´acqua a torre, per dissetare le locomotive assetate dalla defatigante salita. La vecchia torre fa parte delle esposizioni del museo k.u.k. del ristorante “Onkel Taa”, mentre la torre italiana più recente in cemento è fuori uso.)
