Please bring your own pencil. On a snowy day in February, Snug asked Shiny to marry him using this cache. Now we read all of the finds as they come into our e-mail and it reminds us of our wonderful day. Thank you for being a part of it.
On a snowy Saturday in February, my now fiancé, Snug, asked if I would be interested in driving to Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan to take a walk. We had talked about how neither of us had been down to the island before and how we had both always wanted to go. Of course, I agreed. On the way, Snug started playing our song, No Rain by Blind Melon, on repeat. Not having any idea what was about to happen, I thought he was just being sweet. While driving to Belle Isle, I mentioned wanting to look for Geocaches on the island. Once on the Island, we drove around looking for the best place to park and look for any hidden treasures. We found a place and Snug began looking up the closest Geocaches on his phone. We were within 200 yards of one and to my amazement it was named "No Rain". What an extraordinary coincidence, I thought! So, we began to hunt for "No Rain." As we looked around in trees and under rocks, Snug shouted, "I think I found it! I think I found it!". I ran to him to see what we had found. Snug handed the container to me and asked me to open it and read the message to him. Excitedly, I opened the Geocache and began to scroll open the rolled up piece of paper inside. As it opened I read aloud, "Will...You...Marry". Beginning to get nervous thinking we had discovered someone else's proposal, I looked up at Snug to tell him what we had found. He was bent down on one knee holding out my engagement ring. The message had been for me and it read, "Will you marry me? ...Yes you, Shiny." I looked back up at him and he asked, "Will you marry me Shiny?" Not wasting a moment to think, I shouted, "Yes, yes, yes!", and I jumped into his lap knocking him into the snow. After minutes of kissing, he began to tell me the whole story building up to my new favorite memory. He had taken my parents out to lunch months prior to ask for their blessing. Once receiving their approval, as well as making my mother and father tear up, he asked his mother to help him look for the perfect engagement ring for me. Now having my parents blessing and the perfect ring, he enlisted his best friend, DangerWagen, to help him come up with the perfect proposal. They spent weeks looking for the most memorable spot to hide our Geocache. When the day had finally arrived, DangerWagen than went down to Belle Isle before us and found a place to hide until we arrived. He had waited for Snug to guide me to the Geocache and than he began capturing the whole event on film. At this point, I looked up with tears in my eyes to see DangerWagen snapping pictures of us. We still receive an email every time someone finds our Engagement Geocache, and we get to reminisce on the first and most amazing memory of our life together.
