While hiking along the Ishibashi Trail, you may notice cardboard cartons on the side of the trail. This is but one part in an ongoing effort to restore the native species of fauna after the Portuguese Bend Fire of 2009. During our KEEPERS hikes, we monitor this area by taking a picture at the waypoint listed below. We'll try to update the picture on the page as often as possible if you're interested in seeing the gradual restoration of native species.
You're looking for a slightly camo'ed lip balm tube. This portion of the Ishibashi Trail is well-used by hikers and bikers, so please be stealthy and cautious. A TOTT will be helpful in extracting the log, but may not be necessary. This cache is log only, so BYOP. As always, be prepared, stay on the trails, CITO and bring plenty of water.
