Piering into North Carolina Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

cbj23: I have checked the location of this cache and, unfortunately, the site has been torn down. It is being “re-vamped”. However, I do not know when this will be done or what will be put in place of the old. Therefore, I have no other choice but to permanently archive this cache. Maybe, in the future, I will be able to place another once I learn what is being done with the area. Thank you to all who found this cache and left notes as well as helped maintain it. I’m glad so many were able to enjoy it! TFCaching!

Geocache Description:

Cache is a small, camoed, plastic container located just across the state line at North Carolina’s recently remodeled, “Welcome to North Carolina” sign area, right off of Highway 17N.  This should be a fairly easy P&G.  There is room for small tradeables.  BYOP.

I, first, have to give credit to my mama for pointing out this perfect area in need of a cache.  She would be quite the Geocacher, for many reasons…

As I stated above, this cache is a small, camoed, plastic container hidden right off of Highway 17N at a newly designed, “Welcome to North Carolina” sign area, just as you cross into North Carolina leaving from South Carolina.  The contents of this cache include;   A log, sealed in a plastic baggy, a few cat silly bands, a pin/button that reads, “I’m going 2 my happy place now.”, a pin/button that reads, “Yes, I’m one of those Geocaching people.”, one of my very special “Be Happy” zipper pulls, a smiley ball, smiley ring, and a “F.T.F.” keychain and North Carolina lapel pin, inside a blue, plastic baggy, for First to Find.  It’s perfectly fine if you want to take an item for yourself, but please, if you do, be sure and leave something in its’ place.  Nobody likes to find an empty cache.  Be sure to sign the log, put it back in its’ baggy, and reseal the baggy.  Nobody likes to try and sign a wet log either.   Also, be sure to securely re- seal the container and replace it as found, so that the container cannot be seen when approaching GZ.   Yep, you guessed it…Nobody likes to find a waterlogged cache left out in the open…spoils the fun of the search and, I might add, the contents of the cache.

**NOTE**
Since this cache is placed in an area right off of Highway 17N, you will have to pull off onto the side of the road to access this cache.  There is a “parking space” just as you come up to the cache area that will allow you to pull your vehicle off of Highway 17N and be safely off of the road.   Having said that, PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!   Since this is a very busy highway, always be sure and keep your eye on traffic, especially when pulling over and exiting your vehicle as well as getting back into your vehicle and pulling back onto the road and into traffic.  I DO NOT ADVISE parking somewhere on the opposite side of Highway 17 and attempting to cross over to the cache area on foot!

HAPPY CACHING AND SMILEY’S TO ALL!!!

CONGRAT'S TO FISHERMANSWIFE222 FOR F.T.F.!!!
