A great spot for roadside picnics.
I've been planning on and off to add a cache here, but the high number of my caches that has dissapeared has put me off. Anyway, I finally decided to do this one.
This spot is great for picnics and a walking trail is nearby although you need a permit to go on the walk. The setting is under beautifull indigenous trees, and as you may know, our trees have an advantage over GPS recievers! So beware coords may be difficult to pin down. To find this one, follow the trail start - remember you need a permit to walk the trail. The cache is only 100m down the path - even closer than some of the public toilets in the forest. Thus to go to the cache is no violation of the permit agreement. The path makes a Y-junction after 100m or so, follow to you right. Another 20m or so and you will see a bigger tree than most on your left. Hopefully your GPS will be able to confirm which one it is.
The cache should be quite visible if you remember its name, i.e. Strange Fruit. Indeed it is strange and you will be too short, unless you are blue, got a long pointy tail, fly on dragons, and live in a hollow tree. (AKA - Avatar) LOOK on BOTH SIDES OF THE TREE before you try and sign the log book. Please be carefull and do not force anything - let gravity do its work. (If the means of recovery break, please don't hesitate to post a note and tell me - just leave the container under the tree, I will get it.)
Safety note. Only turn into the picnic spot when traveling west, i.e. in the direction of Knysna.
