An interesting hike in the Quirk Mello Conservation area in Somerset, MA.
Just your usual small geocache located slightly off the trail. Getting to the trail is another story.
We have provided 2 sets of parking coords:
Parking #1 is through the Morris Preserve and you will pass right by our "I Think I Saw Brer Rabbit!" cache (GC47RZY). There are LOTS of briars, but there is a path.
Parking #2 is for the marked entrance to the Quirk Mello Conservation area. Parking is across the street from the entrance which is a pathway along a wooden fence in between 2 houses. The sign for the conservation area is visible at the end of the path...but there is no trail after the entrance sign. You can either bushwack over the ledge and through a wooded area to try to get closer to the water and an eventual path or climb over the wall to the left and through the grassy field toward the water. Lots of bushwacking either way to get to a path. From the water's edge, you will see a huge outcropping to the right...head towards that to find the trails ...but the trails are located inland, not along the 'beach'. It's an adventure.
NOTE: These are the only access points that we could find. Please do not attempt through any neighborhoods as all other possible entrances are marked as private property. We checked.
NOTE: A small stream crossing is necessary if approaching from parking waypoint 1.
