This is a great camping area and we thought it deserved a cache.
It is located in Canunda National Park near the small coastal township of Southend.
You’re looking for a black-painted clip lock container situated near the walking trail between Nal-a-wort and Kotgee campgrounds. It contains a log book, pen & the usual small swaps.
Plenty of parking is available within either campground.
The cache is slightly off the walking trail between the two campgrounds. There’s no need to bush-bash as there is a reasonably marked trail off the main track that you can follow in the few last metres to the cache. Kids shouldn’t even need to duck to get into this one but anybody taller than about a metre to a metre and a half will need to watch their heads. Look out also for the spider webs as the area is full of orb spiders.
Each campground has designated campsites, picnic tables & long drop toilets (no showers or mains water). The entrance to the area is off Boozy Gully Road at Southend. This road is 2WD access to the campsites and also a nearby lookout point. Don’t proceed further than the campgrounds unless you have a 4WD, sand-driving experience and, preferably, at least one other 4WD to tag along just in case - driving along the beach in this area is tricky at the best of times.
Day entry is free, but camping fees apply if you wish to stay overnight. You must book your camp site prior to arriving, on line or via phone. Information boards are located at the entrance of Kotgee campground.
