Charles Lake was a popular destination in the 1940's to 60's. There was a beach, ball diamond and a concesstion stand on site. The water level fluctuates and in dry times there have been buffalo skulls exposed on the lake bed. In recent years, with high water levels again, some of the locals have again used the lake for water sports.
