Happy Birthday Groundspeak! This year Groundspeak will become a teenager and will be celebrating the 13th Anniversary of Geocaching! Who would have thought back when President Clinton turned off "selective availability" that a game that is so much fun for people of all ages would be born? Everyone is welcome to join in this celebration of 13 years of Geocaching, so whether you are a new player, a seasoned veteran, or somewhere in between, come out and share some stories, and discuss your favorite caches. As you can tell by the description, this is a birthday party, so be prepared to be festive!
The event will take place on Saturday, April 27th, at the Greene Township Building from 9:00am till Noon. The facility is located on Tate Road just south of I-90, and is easily accessible from Lake Pleasant Road or PA State Route 8. There is plenty of room for parking. The posted coordinates are for the park entrance.
The site also has a playground for the kids, with lots of room to roam about.
Doughnuts, coffee, and juice will be served. For additional eats, please bring something to share. There is a full kitchen for our use and restrooms are available inside the facility.
The event is free, but we will be taking donations to offset the cost of the facilities.
We have plans to set about 50 regular caches that will be available for attendees to find and log. The cache list will be handed out to attendees at the end of the event - around 12pm noon. At least two temporary caches will also be available near the event site. We will have door prizes to give away as well - so don't forget to get some tickets. And don't forget to bring travel bugs/coins/etc. to be discovered or swapped. Please be sure to sign the log book.
Please log a "Will Attend" if you are planning on coming so we have an idea of how many cachers are coming.
