The Food Forest is a student-run project that combines ecology, engineering, horticulture, and design into a creative garden available to all students at FGCU. The plants used are both edible and non-edible native, tropical, subtropical species, grown in in a sustainable fashion. It is an educational tool not only for students, but for the community as for the potential of a sustainable lifestyle in Florida. Students can earn service learning hours by volunteering at the Food Forest and are welcome to meetings, workshops, and events for free.
