Das römische Theater von Lenzburg ist gut restauriert. Es war Teil einer Siedlung, deren lateinischer Name nicht mit Sicherheit feststeht. Man spricht darum vom Vicus Lindfeld.

Die Siedlung entstand vermutlich im zweiten Viertel des 1. Jahrhunderts inmitten eines landwirtschaftlich genutzten Gebietes. Den wirtschaftlichen Höhepunkt erlebte sie im späten 1. und im 2. Jahrhundert. Damals lebten hier etwa 400 bis 600 Menschen.
Das bedeutendste entdeckte Gebäude ist das Theater für etwa 4000 Zuschauer. Es lag 250m nördlich der Siedlung. Koordinierte Grabungen fanden 1950 und 1963/64 statt, letztere im Zusammenhang mit dem Bau des Autobahnzubringers. Die Entdeckung des römischen Theaters war damals eine kleine Sensation.
Um 200 n. Chr. setzte der Niedergang ein, und ab Ende des 2. Jahrhunderts wurde das Theater nicht mehr benutzt. Der Vicus wurde vermutlich um 260 nach den Plünderungszügen der Alemannen aufgegeben.

The settlement was supposedly founded in the second quarter of the 1st century in the middle of an agricultural area. The economic peak was in the late 1st and 2nd century. About 400 to 600 people were living here.
The most important discovery was the theatre for approximately 4000 spectators located 250m north of the settlement. Excavations took place in 1950 and in 1963/64, the latter in connection with the construction of the nearby road. The discovery of the Roman Theatre was a little sensation then.
Around 200 ad the decline set in and at the end of the 2nd century the theatre was no longer in use. The vicus was probably abandoned around 260 after the raids of the Alemanni.
