Garnerway5K - First Find - A Legend Is Born!! Traditional Cache
NCreviewer: It appears that there hasn't been a viable cache to find for some time. I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.
Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

This is a (somewhat) faithful recreation of the archived cache "Buggy Town" (GCKT5K) by TrexterInNC & Teresa which has the distinction of being GARNERWAY'S FIRST GEOCACHE FIND!!! It is re-created in celebration of his upcoming 5,000th find milestone.
Do you need someone to adopt your caches because you're leaving town / being harrassed / getting too old / being deployed? GARNERWAY WILL HELP! Do you need someone to put out a series of caches to celebrate a milestone or just to help get you back in the game after a serious illness? GARNERWAY WILL HELP! Do you need someone to throw a party to celebrate your 1,000th find, or 5,000th find? GARNERWAY WILL HELP! Now as Garnerway fast approaches his milestone 5,000th find, I'm re-creating some of his earlier milestones in order to honor one of the nicest guys geocaching in central North Carolina.......
FIRST FIND: Buggy Town (GCKT5K) Established 10/11/2004, archived 4/7/2006, 35 total finders, Garnerway found on 11/10/2004
CO Trexter Wrote in the cache description:
This cache is located on the previous site of the Tyson-Jones Buggy Factory that dated from the 1800's. Buggys were made here and shipped all over the country. The facility is what Carthage is most well known for and in fact the town has the Buggy Festival every Mother's Day. The main factory burned in the early 1970's in what was the largest fire in the town's history. Buildings still visible from the site include a white brick building that was part of the facility, and the Tyson Mansion which now has had a small mall added to the front side of it. The historical marker for this spot is located beside McReynolds Street (NC 22-24-27) 100 yards or so away. This cache is wheelchair accessible and will take only a few minutes to access but who knows how long to find!
Garnerway wrote in his log:
"This was my very first find. Just got my Magellan yesterday and I am still learning to use it. Thanks for the adventure. Hope for many more." (How right he was!! 5,000 so far and still counting!!)
