The damage of the massive tsunami caused by the major earthquake in November 1854(Kaei era 7).
Ansei massive tsunami monument was erected in 1855(Ansei era 2) in Taisho Bridge Higashizume (the North-East side) to record the state of affairs and to convey the admonition for coming ages.

嘉永7年（1854年）11月の大地震による大津波の被害は甚大でした。
その様子を記録し後世に対する戒めを伝える為、安政大津波碑が1855年(安政2年)に大正橋東詰（北側）に建立されました。
