GRASSHOPPER

Have you ever seen a grasshopper go shooting away,
As if flung from a trampoline?
She alights on a long grass stem that then begins to sway.
A rhythm of green on green.

I’ve seen her jump from grass to stump and then light on a tree,
Then down to earth and disappear.
Now she sails back to the limb as if her soul’s set free
Listen to her as she sings tis music to the ear.
