Ki (TI)was considered sacred to the Hawaiian god, Lono, and to the goddess of the hula, Laka. It was also an emblem of high rank and divine power. The kahili, in its early form, was a Ki stalk with its clustered foliage of glossy, green leaves at the top. The leaves were used by the kahuna priests in their ancient religious ceremonial rituals as protection to ward off evil spirits and to call in good.
While walking along the road on the Puaianko Extension, I came a upon a little Ki plant growing all by itself on the side of the road. I wondered about how it got there, and why it choose to plant itself right in this spot for me to find. Oh, the wonders of nature!
The cache is a small container located near this Ki. It contains a logbook and some SWAG. Lookout for the low branches when entering this area. It is also recommended that you wear shoes because of the uneven ground. When looking for the cache, PLEASE remember to respect the area and try not to disturb the beauty of this environment. This is one of the BIG rules about geocaching that is a must to follow.
The road has very wide shoulders so you can park along side it and will not block traffic.
BYOP...I could not fit one in there. As always, I asked that you make sure the cover to the cache is secure to prevent water from getting in, and replace the cache EXACTLY as you find it.
Have fun, be safe, and MALAMA the 'AINA! mahalo to Hiloshell & Del ....FTF!
